It is the task of the Garchen Foundation to promote Tibetan Buddhism, and primarily to promote the Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. To achieve its tasks, the Garchen Foundation is active in a broad range of mission areas to fulfill the Foundation’s purpose of preservation, teaching and practice of Tibetan Buddhism. Just to mention a few:
- The establishment and maintenance of study centers, retreat centers, and other facilities
- Granting of scholarships to students and scientists who conduct research in the field of Tibetan Buddhism
- Organization of lectures, courses and meditation retreats of the Drikung Kagyu tradition
- Funding of text projects, especially the translation and printing of Tibetan Buddhist texts.
